Who will you be working for?

You'll be joining a growing organisation that benefits from substantial backing from a privately owned European market leader. An established trade retailer, they turnover circa £25m and operate out of 19 branches UK wide. You'll join them at a time of ambitious growth targets that includes doubling turnover in the next 5 years both through organic growth and acquisition. They are very much in a period of transformation, including significant investment in their logistics operations and systems, which offers the chance for you to make significant change and deliver substantial improvements.


What will you be doing?

You'll take responsibility for all logistics activity, both inbound and outbound, across the UK business, including the central NDC and all branches. You'll will use your experience and understanding of warehousing and logistics to undertake a full review of current operations, including warehouse layout, processes and management, carrier management, internal transport operations and inventory before formulating improvement plans to deliver a best in class operation. You'll lead, develop, motivate and inspire the central distribution centre team to exceed their SLA's and KPI's so internal customers get the service they need to run a successful retail operation. You'll also be responsible for ensuring the CDC hits it's financial and health & safety targets.


What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it's expected that you'll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills/experience:

  • A strong background in leading hub + spoke distribution operations, covering both warehouse and transport, either within a 3PL or in-house operation (ideally trade retail)
  • Previous experience of undertaking gap analysis, devising process flows and implementing process/procedure documentation
  • Highly analytical mind set - you'll like data and will be able to analyse it to make informed decisions
  • Experience of lean/continuous improvement is highly desirable
  • National CPC would be advantageous
  • Good knowledge of WMS and their integration with existing systems
  • Excellence communicator, someone who builds rapport easily and is able to influence and drive change
