What will you be doing?

You'll take the lead for the end to end management of a range of category groups/frameworks (Material Supply, Decorative Solutions, Appliances, Kitchens and Assisted Living), from EU compliant sourcing and award to service delivery. You'll work with key accounts/customers to ensure their procurement needs are met and identify opportunities to drive commercial improvements on the goods and services your organisation provides to them. You'll develop strong working relationships with both existing and new suppliers, negotiating the most favourable terms whilst ensuring quality and service aren't compromised - you'll be actively working with these suppliers to manage their performance. You'll be managing both individual contracts and complete frameworks. You'll also be responsible for the management, motivation and development of a team of 3 buyers.

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it's expected that you'll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous experience in a procurement role, ideally within a Construction/Merchant/Materials environment although other sectors will be considered
  • Experienced in large-scale procurement activities
  • Ideally CIPS Level 4 qualified or working toward
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills, you'll be comfortable using Lookups, Advanced Forumulas, Pivot Tables and Reporting
  • Previous people leadership experience would be highly advantageous but isn't essential if you can demonstrate strong coaching/mentoring soft skills
  • Experience of OJEU/FTS procurement would be a distinct advantage
