What will you be doing?

You'll be taking the lead on the procurement of contractor services to help Social Housing providers raise the energy efficiency levels of their 5 million properties across the UK. You'll be well versed on all aspects of what's needed to increase a properties energy efficiency, such as which heat pumps are best suited to which properties/situations, whether a property needs internal or external wall insulation, double glazing or triple glazing, the costs of the various materials used in delivering net zero retrofit property projects, the rough labour rates/hours needed, all to ensure you are able to accurately assess quotes and proposals from prospective contractors against the various projects you've put out to tender. It is expected that billions of pounds are going to spent on improving the energy efficiency of properties in the social housing sector over the coming years, so this newly created role is vital in ensuring this organisation's customers get the very best value for money, via contractors delivering the right solutions at a fair price.

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it's expected you'll be able to demonstrate the majority of the following skills and experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of Net Zero within the housing sector - ideally this would cover retro fit social housing properties, however any experience gained in specifying or procuring materials and services to increase, or ensure, levels of energy efficiency within new builds or commercial properties would also be considered
  • Strong degree of commercial acumen. You don't to have been in a procurement role previously, however you will need to be up to speed on the price of materials and service provisions in the housing Net Zero space and be able to effectively challenge and negotiate with contractors on these areas
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills. You'll be comfortable building relationships with peers, colleagues, supplier and customers at various level
  • Any previous experience of working with NEC or JCT contracts would be an advantage but isn't essential
  • Willing and able to get to the Warrington office 3 days a week
