Why recruitment? If you’re passionate enough, It’s the most satisfying, roller-coaster journey anyone can be a part of. Being in a position to open doors and present candidates with life changing opportunities is an amazing feeling – Especially when they are successful! When you pull the whole thing apart, as a recruiter, you have the influence and ability to make someone’s career and personal life a whole lot better! The thought of changing someone’s life for the better, to help them succeed personally and financially is what drives me.
What’s the best bit about your job? Be honest! I am a people person (or at least I think I am) Recruitment provides variety – No two days are the same and no two people are the same either. Better include the amazing team I work with in here somewhere!
…… and the worst? Keep being honest! Trying to diet and get slim but working in an office full of “feeders” does not help LoL. Unreliable candidates that mistake kindness for weakness.
You talk to a lot of people on a daily basis, both clients & candidates, what do you think are the key issues / hot topics for them around recruitment? Managing expectations and accepting reality.
Candidates: Trying to find a suitable place to work within their local vicinity that provides support, progression, flexibility with a good salary.
Clients: To be presented with a selection of candidates (today) who exceed all expectations and can hit the ground running.
If you were not in recruitment what would you be doing? i.e what vacancies would you be applying for?
Not sure what I would be doing or where I would be. I once saw a job advertisement for a Wing Rider with a Flying Circus air show! Always thought that could be fun and I am sure there must be some sort of danger pay involved…
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given? If you spend today worrying about tomorrow, you’ll never be happy.
What did you think you would be before you grew up? A Mechanic!
I grew up building, fixing and riding motorbikes, motocross, Pit-bikes and Quad bikes across fields.
I’ve had on road and off road bikes since I can remember. Also raced and displayed cars at various track days and events.
I like anything that gets the adrenaline pumping!!
