Role: Group Financial Controller
Location: Hybrid, 1-2 Days Hemel Hempstead
Salary: £75k +Benefits
The Group is at a key point in its growth with an increasing number of small and medium reporting entities and this new role is key to providing a new approach to delivering key financial functions for reporting and delivering the finance element of the schemes. This is a challenging and exciting role for an accountant who is looking for progression and eventual progress to Finance Director position within the company
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial reporting
- Line management of the Company Accountant and the Head of Managed Finance.
- Ensure that key monthly information is provided for government returns, monthly reporting and KPIs.
- Produce the monthly Board Finance Report for The Group and its subsidiaries
- . Improve on analysis and forecasting currently reported.
- Provide monthly Group accounts and individual accounts for the schemes and other businesses and ventures with an expectation of reducing reporting time to 5 working days from the existing seven. Ensure that there are reconciliations and back-ups for all balance sheet accounts.
- In charge of annual audits for entities.
- Responsible for VAT reporting and tax returns (including special allowances such as R&D)
- Responsible for group budgets, forecast cash flows and reforecasting
- Maintain an up to date costed staff grid.
Managing the team
- Setting objectives for direct reports and reviewing objectives for other staff with their managers.
- Dealing with day to day staffing issues within the accountancy function.
- Ensure quarterly appraisals are held for direct reports and wider team.
- Ensuring staff are meeting daily; weekly and monthly targets and that tasks are being completed.
- Approve holidays and ensure that there is adequate cover in the combined team.
- Hold regular team meetings.
- Managing 2 direct reports – with indirect support to the larger team
- Understand the roles so that the job holder can cover tasks as required
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Job Knowledge and Experience
- Educated to degree level.
- Must be a fully qualified ACA, ACMA or ACCA.
- A minimum of 3-4 years’ experience in a senior accounting role producing regular group reporting.
- Ability to manage a large and variable workload and work under pressure and to tight deadlines; and
- Sound knowledge of Sage,(or similar; Salesforce (or similar CRM) systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Business Teams and the ability to learn new systems and processes as required.
Must be able to:
- Create excellent reporting systems using the systems in place and have an affinity to extract data efficiently.
