  • £30,000 to £35,000 basic salary
  • Flexible working – up to 3 days per week from home
  • Contributory Pension
  • Study Support
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays

What will you be doing?

Working under the mentorship of some outstanding procurement and commodity managers, you’ll be responsible for full lifecycle management for a defined portfolio of commodities/categories/components, from requirements identification, through supplier sourcing, selection, on-boarding and management to ensure the best quality product/service is available at the best price for each of the projects you are working on. You’ll be fully accountable for the spend and budget management for you area, as well as supplier consolidation/optimisation and relationship management. These projects will cover multi-site and pan European requirements. Your supplier base will be both domestic and international so you’ll be working with plenty of different cultures. There are currently 3 roles available, all coming about as part of a re-structure and centralisation programme, covering a range of components/commodities/categories including fasteners, metals, electrical, fabrics as well as indirect categories such as packaging, logistics, manual handling equipment and aftermarket. Ultimately your job is to deliver cost down targets, ensure optimium product/service quality and availability and work with your supplier base to deliver mutually beneficial improvements.

What do you need to bring to the table?

To be successful in this role it’s expected that you’ll be able to bring the majority of the following skills and experience:

  • Previous procurement/purchasing experience ideally gained within a manufacturing/engineering environment (direct, indirect, tooling preferred but isn’t essential – all procurement/purchasing backgrounds will be considered as the right person is the most important thing)

  • Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
  • Results driven – you’ll love delivering against challenging targets
  • Able to play a lead role in contract implementation and management
  • CIPS or equivalent would be advantageous but isn’t essential if you are qualified by experience
  • A positive, driven personality and a desire to help create a true best in class procurement function
