JOB DESCRIPTION

1. JOB IDENTIFICATION

Job Title: IT Project Manager

2. JOB PURPOSE The role is part of the creation of a formal IT change and project function for the organisation. The role holder will have significant influence in defining process and practice and, as part of a forming team, will need to be flexible and work in a hybrid role.

The purpose of the role is lead and manage change projects with a significant IT component to successful outcomes and at the same time, play a key part in forming and defining the function. This will include project managing more than one project at once.

The purpose of the role is also to provide project input on the analysis of current processes and the design of future processes to ensure adoption of systems and processes within the organisation, and that configuration of systems is optimally aligned to achieving project goals, IT strategy and organisation's strategy. The role will be key to informing the optimum configuration of IT systems by being the bridge between subject matter experts from various departments and disciplines as a well as suppliers.

3. ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE The IT service is provided by an on-site team and 3rd party managed services.

The role is one of a number of new roles to augment the existing team. The in-house team will comprise:

1. CIO 2. Head of IT 3. Project Manager / Business Analyst 4. IT Software Trainer 5. Network Manager 6. Senior Cyber Security And Network Engineer 7. Service Support Team (x4) - 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineers providing desk-side support as well as having a broad range of IT skills in applications and infrastructure relevant to the hospital. 8. Applications Support Team (x3) - Application, development and data/information specialists. In addition to the in-house team, the hospital has a number of key outsourced services covering:

1. 1st line telephone / email support 2. Networking 3. Telephony 4. Hosted cloud services 5. Data Centre Operations (DR and Business Continuity) Comms 6. Citrix Further roles to augment the team and expand the project delivery capability are anticipated.

4. ROLE OF DEPARTMENT Overall role is to provide:

1. Support and development of all IT systems, applicable to both infrastructure and applications. 2. To assist in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the information assets by employing robust, best practices in the management and support of the network and supporting services.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST The responsibilities of the post include:

  • Plan, manage, monitor and control various projects with a significant IT element, delivering to deadlines and budget without compromising on quality.
  • Lead the engagement of clinical and administrative subject matter experts to assess, document and (where required) re-design business processes to support the delivery of IT-focused projects.
  • Map the relevant inter (and intra) departmental processes that are impacted by IT-focused projects.
  • Analyse processes and produce data and process flow diagrams as well as reports and recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop processes, procedures and associated documentation to ensure the adoption and continued use of systems.
  • Support the business in transitioning to new ways of working.
  • Provide suggestions for system and business improvements.
  • Lead the engagement of subject matter experts and be a key contributor to the configuration of new and existing systems.
  • Facilitate workshops, user meetings and other opportunities to capture or enhance the detail of business processes (current and future) relating to existing and new services and processes.
  • Capture the future "to-be" business processes including challenging historical ways of working as appropriate.
  • Forecast the operational cost and business benefits of the "to-be" processes.
  • Provide a physically present and visible presence to represent IT positively within the organisation to enhance the reputation of the department and improve the credibility of its service.
  • Provide, at all times, a professional and courteous service including professional appearance and clear written and verbal communication.
  • Complete all hospital mandatory training as required in line with all other employees.
