Purpose

We are seeking a Network Engineer to be part of the IT team. The postholder will provide operational and technical IT support to Site Router and Network infrastructure of the organisations solar and battery sites.

To be available in the Reading office for any on-site hardware or software support as needed, and available to attend remote sites and company locations, as necessary.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

◼ You will be responsible for the WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, Remote access solutions in terms of security, patching and operations.
◼ You will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing the connectivity from the network at 127 solar power and battery storage sites to organisations offices and Azure cloud.
◼ Travel as needed to organisations solar power and battery storage sites for maintenance, installation and improvement activities
◼ Install, configure and maintain layer 2/3 network equipment and 4G/5G Routers, Satellite, Switches connectivity on sites Form Template FO-QA-801a Rev.1.0 Issued By: Compliance Manager First Issue

ROLE PROFILE

◼ Work closely with other members within the department, troubleshoot issues, undertake regular infrastructure audits/housekeeping, and assist with project delivery.
◼ Install and configure communications software on network attached devices. Provide network advice to other systems support staff, systems analysts, application end users and project personnel
◼ Configure and maintain network security appliances such as firewalls
◼ Plan configurations of new equipment and reconfiguration of existing equipment to standardize the network landscape
◼ Implement necessary security restrictions on network devices in compliance with organisations IT and Security policies
◼ Be a key player in implementing a 24/4 network monitoring platform with proactive management capabilities
◼ Monitor network performance and carry out capacity planning of network services as the company grows
◼ Develop and maintain network diagrams, documentation, standards, including work instructions and configuration backups
◼ Work with IT management in areas such as DR and BCP, as well as penetration testing and other security related works
◼ Resolve or escalate incident reports and update documentation, as necessary.
◼ Other duties assigned by IT Manager and Head of IT.

Skills & Competencies

◼ Strong hands-on experience as a network engineer
◼ Experience of IP data networks, 4G/5G Routers, MIFI devices, WLAN
◼ Experience with managing Switches, Firewalls setup, configuration, backup & restore of all equipment configurations
◼ Managing sites Config setting in centralised repository
◼ Networking knowledge, IP addressing, LAN principles and design.
◼ Knowledge data infrastructure cabling.
◼ Knowledge or experience with backup and DR systems is desirable.
◼ A keen interest in cloud-based IT infrastructure and services is essential.
◼ Valid UK driving licence
