Salary: 30,000 to 35,000 £
Type: Permanent
Date: 27/06/2023
Trainee DevOps Engineer

Role Summary: Junior DevOps Engineer - Linux / AWS (Remote with some travel to Derbyshire) - no sponsorship available - UK remote only - BUILD YOUR CAREER AND GET INTO DEVOPS!

This web and software development consultancy/agency has a fantastic team, super engaged and super stable. They have a wholesome culture, with flexible working. They are always committed to learning and development, so very supportive and friendly, with a bit of fun thrown in along the way!

Things are going really well for them, with lots of exciting new customer projects and investment into their own internal systems, including their DevOps infrastructure, platforms and methodologies.

Now, they’ve made a great start when it comes to DevOps but there is so much more to do, to learn and to implement. With this in mind, we’re keen to find an Engineer who has a real appetite for DevOps, someone who is willing to throw themselves right into it!

Is this someone you?

  • Are you reading the books, super interested but need a break to get into DevOps?
  • Is part of your role DevOps and you want to do it 100% of the time?
  • Do you have the DevOps theory but now want to put it into practice?

So here are the basics…….this is what you’ll be involved in:

  • Support and develop established DevOps and Infrastructure Services
  • Plan, build, configure, test, and deploy technology solutions
  • Participate in automated testing and implementation
  • Rolling out new DevOps technologies
  • Planning deployments in line with project releases
  • Researching new technologies and getting the best out of the existing systems

So what are we looking for?

  • Knowledge of Linux
  • Some knowledge or experience or exposure of Pantheon or AWS
  • Some familiarity with the principles of GitHub, CI/CD
  • Experience or awareness of Jira
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principals
  • Background in Software Development / Engineering or Infrastructure
  • Willingness to work in a small team of three engineers
  • Willingness to get involved in things that are sometimes outside of core DevOps

The environment:

This organisation is a Drupal support, development and hosting specialist, working with a wide range of clients from international brands and public sector organisations to large non-profit charities. They have some legacy apps on AWS but largely use Pantheon and GitLab for DevOps purposes. All developers use MacOS with Lando with a view to migrating to DDEV to take advantage of Apple Silicon. They are ISO:27001 and Cyber Essentials/Plus accredited.

Why join?

This role is 100% remote, but you must be based in the UK. There are regular team-building events and workshops and training, so a willingness to travel to Derby is essential, normally once every 12 weeks. While the team is supportive, they’ll also expect you to take accountability for projects and delivery. So we’re looking for people that relish the challenge.

Of course, this is a relatively junior role, so you’ll get lots of support and investment, but we’re looking for someone who is committed to their own self-development, specifically within DevOps. If you show willingness, they’ll back you 110%

The position comes with a salary of up to £35,000 + benefits

Unfortunately, this organisation does not sponsor workers from outside of the UK.

If your application is successful you’ll be asked to join a video interview with our recruiter Simon Bucknell, this interaction will be recorded and sent to the client alongside your CV.

You will then attend a 2nd interview - virtual or onsite (Subject to location) - before being made an offer of employment.

Start dates ideally in July!
