IT Systems Administrator

Working in an autonomous environment, and unsupervised, you’ll report to the site manager and the Group IT Director. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day onsite IT support for a large international advanced manufacturing company in Nuneaton.

The role is varied and challenging and every day is a school day, with so much to learn!

The role will involve supporting around 100 users, all infrastructure which will include networks, wireless access points, workstations, laptops, servers, cabling and switching. In addition, you’ll also roll out new IT infrastructure and provide support to the users on Office 365 and ERP systems.

Although you’ll be responsible for support, to an advanced level, help is never far away. Your team, based in the Gloucester HQ is always on hand to help, if needed. So you’ve always got people to lean on and learn from.

As you progress in the role, you’ll get involved in upgrades and technology refresh projects and wider business system improvements and implementations.

Our ideal with have around 5 years of IT Industry experience, with at least 3 years working in an IT Support / Administration position, supporting users and infrastructure at a Systems Administration level.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Windows Active Directory administration – Users and Computers
  • PC / Laptop / Workstation hardware and software support, including legacy operating systems Administration and support of server applications including licence servers, Backup Exec, AD/Group Policy, ESET, Windows Updates
  • Maintenance and monitoring of network equipment and cabling
  • Adhering to Internal Control standards and maintaining appropriate records
  • Adopting Cyber-secure working practices and adhering to the standards required by Cyber

Desirable Work Experience/Knowledge

  • Networking and comms. experience with cat. 5/6 cabling and MPLS
  • CAD administration
  • Experience of supporting NAV 2015/2018

  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all user levels
  • Flexibility and willingness to work out of hours where necessary
  • Ability to work alone, unsupervised, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to prioritise and manage own workload A demonstrable interest in upcoming methods and technology

Hours of work: 37 hours per week (Monday – Thursday 7.30 – 16:00, Friday 07.30 – 12:30) Location: Transport will be provided for travel to other UK sites.
