The Role:

Are you a JavaScript developer who wants to work for a company that trusts the people in charge of building their platform? Would you like to work with an engineering manager who cares deeply about highly performant web applications?

One of the first things David, the manager in question did when he joined this company was rewrite what they already had from React to Preact for the improved performance. The business let him do it because iterative improvements are what they are all about. They sometimes manage in excess of 15 releases a day. The decisions here are driven by data and they continuously run tests in the background to assess and improve their user journeys and conversion rates. Some of the problems they want to tackle next will involve things like improving their search functionality in terms of the speed and accuracy that their system can cycle through the billions of possible combinations of hotel, flights and destinations.

Key Technologies: JavaScript, React, Redux, TypeScript, Node and Kubernetes on GCP

Other tech the company use: Java (main backend language) although they do also use Go and are playing around with Kotlin.
