The environment is hot right now in more ways than one.
Everyone wants to make a positive impact - from plastic free households to organisations planting trees. But as science and data routinely ramps-up the urgency of the climate cause, it’s common to ask: “Are we doing enough?”
We’re hiring for a startup that’s determined to make a meaningful difference. On a mission to support businesses in their net zero transition by providing the tools and software infrastructure to scale the measurement, reduction, and offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions.
Joining as a Data engineer, you’ll be one of the first to take responsibility for building these planet-saving products. You'll work directly with the founders and help define the problems that need solving.
This team has built and developed successful companies and products before, including a FinTech unicorn. Though still an early stage startup in stealth mode, they’re well-funded and they operate with a level of maturity that can only accompany a solid track record.
Day-to-day you will;
be heavily involved in the design of the company's data infrastructure
be part of a cross-functional team and work directly with the Head of Data Engineering, (also one of the co-founders of the business).
help the data science team by building the data pipelines they need to feed their models.
Help automate processes and enable the team to scale their insights.
Ideally you’ll need proven experience as a data engineer gained working at a large tech company or high growth startup but the team will also consider strong Python engineers with some exposure to working on data.
Key technologies;
Spark
AWS (including Serverless)
AWS Glue (very nice to have)
The more well-rounded your knowledge here, the better.
Aside from the technical bits you will have an appetite for technical challenges, you'll enjoy working in a challenging environment where you can solve problems that still need to be defined. You work best in an environment with minimal bureaucracy but you are a strong communicator and know when to seek the assistance and input of your colleagues.
You’ll get a competitive salary and stock options (everyone here owns the business), 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), a pension plan, and flexible and remote working options. Learning and development is prioritised, so you’ll get your own budget for books, courses and conferences.
Perhaps most importantly, you'll know that your work is making a hugely positive environmental impact. The climate clock is ticking, and while everyone wants to say they're making a difference, here this isn't simply a strategic add on. It's central to the entire business.
If you're up for tackling the biggest problem of our lifetime, apply now.
