HR Advisor

If you enjoy working at pace, want to feel like the work you do has an impact, and feel that you are genuinely helping the business reach its objectives then this role could be for you. Based on site with our retail distribution client, you’ll be joining a recently formed HR team and will be supporting an HR agenda that will lend itself to CV enhancing experience and exposure.

HR Advisor
Milton Keynes
Up to £35,000

As number 2 to the HR Manager, you’ll be a key support figure to the on-site management team – advising on employee relations issues, helping raise management capability and working tactically to ensure high levels of engagement and performance. You won’t be a team of two though, you’ll be working with a small team of HR and payroll professionals and will act as a coach and escalation point. As a team you will oversee the entirety of the employee lifecycle and will ensure effective distribution of work to enable you to best prioritise your time on the high value activities.

The day job will likely look very similar to other HR Advisor roles – employee relations casework, supporting managers with resource planning and recruitment to make sure the site is at optimal staffing, advising on absence, performance, and policy, and maintaining accurate HR data across all systems including time and attendance and payroll. The job doesn’t stop there though – you’ll be the key figure and take ownership of employee engagement and CSR activities, will support the HR Manager with cyclical HR activities such as pay review and talent planning, and will have the opportunity to interface with the centres of excellence, such as L&D and recruitment, on business-wide initiative rollouts.

Think this might be the right move for you?
You’ll need to be an experienced HR Advisor, excelling in advising managers and being a credible support to them. To hit the ground running, you’ll likely come from, or have had prior experience, working in warehousing, retail or manufacturing environments. You won’t need to be an employee engagement or CSR specialist, but an understanding and some exposure to these activities will be required, as will a basic understanding of HR systems.

What’s in it for you?
You’ll be joining a business that has seen consistent organic growth over the last 5 years, even during the pandemic, and are looking to see continued growth in the immediate future. With a strong track record of succession planning and offering moves to develop experience within the HR function, this role won’t be your first and last with this business. You’ll be working as part of a highly knowledgeable HR function and will be coached and supported to help progress to HRM/ BP level.
