Data Science Engineer / AI / ML Assurance Tester - North West / Remote - Artifical Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics

My client is a large software house, who works to solve challenging problems for their clients. As an inclusive and supportive workplace, they are looking for an AI & Machine Learning assurance expert to join their team.

You will be joining a data science team that is already doing amazing work within the Defence and Public Sector. The data science team is small but rapidly growing and works together to analyse and investigate data and design solutions. Individuals within the team also work embedded in other projects, bringing their skills and knowledge to impactful projects for UK Government customers.

Here are some things you might have worked on recently that we're looking for:

  • advising on the design of ML/AI training pipelines, helping to ensure that models that are maximally secure, ethical, and explainable
  • data validation: ensuring that the data used to training models is not skewed
  • convergence testing: ensuring that AI/ML model training is properly and maximally converged
  • data/model regression testing: ensuring that model performance does not drift, deteriorate or regress over time in terms of recall, F-score, confusion matrices, etc. or become newly biased
  • curating datasets for testing models
  • running various coverage and other testing tools on neural networks, such as DeepConcolic, DeepCover and DeepCT
  • comparing models on the same data for performance, bias, etc.
  • reporting on model test results

About You

We are looking for an experienced ML/AI assurance tester with strong opinions on the best ways of working, techniques, and tooling for assuring AI. Understanding statistics and automation are key, along with building or integrating into MLOps pipelines. You need an active interest in new developments, including keeping abreast of the state of the art in technology, academic, and industry articles.

Curiosity, conscientiousness, and a scientific approach are key qualities we are looking for. The ability to work well with others, help junior staff, and present complex ideas and findings to customers, executives, and non-specialists within the company is essential.

You might have a degree, it might be in a related field. You might not, and you can demonstrate how you’ve trodden the path for yourself.

The client has offices are in Salford and you can work from home. Most of the company works from the office and we still like to see you. We are lean, and we have a high ratio of ‘do-ers’. You need to be able to work as part of a team and take ownership and deliver against your own tasks.

The salary is competitive, paying between £30,000 and £60,000 dependent on experience. Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, and you have flexibility over when you give that time. Our office hours are between 7:30 and 18:30 Monday to Friday. Most of our team are working 1-2 days a month in the office for a sprint - So the role is commutable from Manchester, Warrington, Cheshire, Bolton and Derbyshire.
