The integrated nature of our practices mean that the lawyers based in London work closely on a regular basis with their counterparts in the firm’s other international practices as well as those in the firm’s US offices.

The role:

We are seeking an England & Wales/EU27 qualified Competition associate (non-contentious) with a minimum of 2 years’ and maximum of 4 years’ post-qualification experience to join their leading EU/UK Competition team. Prior experience working in a team for financial institutions or funds clients and exposure to mergers, acquisitions, JVs and restructurings required. EU27 admission, German/French language skills and an EU Law or Competition LLM highly desirable.

Their EU/UK Competition team is part of the Firm’s Global Antitrust & International Trade practices. The team works seamlessly on cross-border matters with colleagues in Akin’s US, German, UAE and Asian offices.

Additional information:

The EU/UK competition law practice advises on complex mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances and joint ventures; technology transfer and IP licensing; cartels and behavioral matters; investigations by government agencies and regulators; competition law damages claims and disputes; state aid/restructuring and the impact of Brexit. The client base include multinationals, telecommunications and energy utilities, corporates, hedge fund managers, private equity houses and investment banks active globally. The firm advises clients before the European Commission and other EU institutions, the Competition and Markets Authority, OFCOM, OFGEM and the Competition Appeal Tribunal, as well as litigating before the European and UK courts. They provide strategic, regulatory advice across a wide number of industries, including, inter alia, communications/telecoms, financial services, energy, technology and environmental.
