Senior Scientific Officer – Pharmacovigilance

Location: Addlestone
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. (Temporary, full time, 5 month assignment)

Our client, a large, friendly organisation with a warm and welcoming team, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientific Officer on a temporary basis for 5 months initially. This role will put you at the heart of the company’s post authorisation activity, contributing to their aims and objectives by assessing reports or suspected adverse events.

Main Responsibilities:

  • monitor adverse event reports in order to detect trends which reflect on the safety, quality and efficacy of products authorised for use in the UK
  • use your clinical knowledge to determine the likelihood that the reported signs can be attributed to the products when assessing reports of suspected adverse reactions or lack of efficacy following use of veterinary medicines to determine causality and identify emerging patterns of resistance
  • perform statistical signal detection analyses within the pharmacovigilance databases and interpret the clinical significance of the results obtained
  • based on these assessments plan suitable risk mitigation measures
  • attend internal and external scientific committee meetings and provision of relevant advice to assessors from other scientific disciplines
  • deal with pharmacovigilance related queries from stakeholders; including data extraction from the pharmacovigilance databases in order to provide the requested information
  • contribute to the scientific literature and
  • participate in the development of new processes when required.

Only applications with a Veterinary Medicine degree will be considered. For this role you must also have excellent working knowledge of MS Office with a particular emphasis on Excel in order to manipulate data within it. You need to be highly organised, able to prioritise workload and have excellent communication skills.
