Everyone meet Scott Simpson.
Today I spent an hour talking to him and how we can help him get the first HR job that he so desperately wants.
Scott isn't your orthodox HR profile as he wants to get into HR off the back of working as a Team Manager for 5 years. But it's the HR elements of his job that sparked the fire and made him want to get into HR.
However, BECAUSE he doesn't have a formal HR job title on his CV then 99% of the time his CV will be rejected. So I want you to meet Scott the person. Not a name and some experience on a document, the actual person.
I've worked in HR. I specialise in HR recruitment. I know what good looks like. And I know that Scott would be great in a HR role.
He's halfway through his CIPD Level 3, he volunteers with the Manchester CIPD branch, and he can handle a disciplinary matter with his eyes shut.
So this is my mission this year to get him the job he wants. He's based in Manchester and would be perfect for a HR Advisor role. He doesn't need to start at the bottom as he has enough operational experience. He just needs a bit of support and mentoring.
