We are looking to recruit an Import Operator for a global logistics company based in Tilbury. The Import Operator will manage day-to-day operations and provide high level of customer service to all clients, as part of the sea freight imports team.

• Chasing customs clearance documents from customers prior to vessel arrival.

• Controlling customs processes to ensure correct management of duties, VAT and excise taxes.

• Collecting all correct documentation prior to release / delivery of cargo.

• Arranging haulage with shipping lines / haulers.

• Ensuring shipments are rated and invoiced correctly.

• Negotiating and agreeing haulage prices with suppliers.

• Securing payment cleared funds for duty / VAT invoices prior to release / delivery of cargo.

Profile

• Previous experience in a similar role is essential.

• Able to work to deadlines and meet targets.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• IT literate

• Proactive problem-solving capability.
