Marcus is a Senior Recruitment Consultant at HRS. He graduated university with a first class degree in Sport and Exercise Science.

What do you enjoy the most about working at HRS?
I enjoy working at HRS because of how friendly and enthusiastic everyone is about their work. I chose recruitment, in particular HRS as they specialise in science. My job involves helping change people’s lives as well as improving the quality of the science industry. My previous jobs have been across various industries including Hospitality to (refereeing) football.

Interesting fact: I played football for Ipswich and Watford Academy and County Level Under 18’s before going to university.

As part of our commitment to helping to change lives, late 2019 HRS launched the Recruiter Ricky "How To Get Hired Podcast". This is a podcast series where our Managing Director Ricky Martin interviews a number of influential guests from a variety of industries. The idea behind this is that if we can speak to people who have been instrumental in the recruitment process for major businesses we should be able to unearth some easy to digest and useful tips to help more people to get hired! These tips could be when reviewing a CV, when interviewing or even when going through the first few months of starting a new job.

Making a difference is more than just commercial gain, and this is why this podcast is not a "Life Sciences" or "Recruitment" podcast, it is one focus on general employability.

Throughout the series a number of recognisable guests, and leaders from household brands, are interviewed by Ricky and support his mission of helping more people to get hired. This includes:

On it's launch the ‘Recruiter Ricky – How to Get Hired’ podcast became a top 20 global business podcast and is a must listen for anybody looking to get a new job, or for recruiters who want to provide useful information to their jobseekers to help them to get hired!

Here at HRS we have a sole focus on helping to change lives. To do so we support people with their careers in the life sciences where they will support the creation of living-saving medicines and life-changing technologies. However it is not only about changing lives via what we do every day in recruitment, it is also about how we support others in and outside of work! This can be down to the small things are staff do helping out in local elderly homes, with local schools but also via our three coporate charities who we proudly raise money for. These are:

• Genes for Jeans
• Alzheimer's Society
• Mind

All have a personal plan in the hearts of our life-changers and in support of this we run a whole host of events across the years which vary from an annual 11 aside football fundraiser, to "Gene Pool" tournaments in the office, to red nose day, honest box (we have a drink's fridge where we ask for a 20p donation which all goes monthly to a local charity). Our MD Ricky Martin is even an ambassador for both Genes for Jeans and Alzheimer's who regularly spends his weekends supporting "Memory Walks" and give back days!
