Mechanical Design Engineer

We are working with a systems integrator in West Yorkshire in their search for Senior Design Engineer and Mechanical Design Engineers. With a reputation spanning over 30 years, the company offer unrivalled job satisfaction using the latest PLC, servo, robotics, and vision systems. Providing a full cradle-to-grave service from concept to commissioning, the company produce small unit machines to complex multi-machine and multi-robot systems.

The role

You will be responsible for the design and delivery of innovative automation solutions for a diverse range of customers. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will work closely with your customers to understand their needs and develop technically complex Mechanical Design solutions from concept to completion.

What experience do I need?

We need people who have conceptual Mechanical Design experience within special-purpose machinery, automated systems or similar. Whilst the company use Inventor, they will consider any 3D CAD system.

What are my day-to-day tasks?

Assisting in the development and detailing of designs that meet requirements and specifications. Ensuring designs conform to all legal machinery safety standards and are practical in application.

· Design must adhere to machinery directive (LV, MD, ATEX, PE) and relevant EN standards.
· To ensure any design work is practicable and feasible.
· To liaise with peers to ensure correct specifications are being met and work is within timescales.
· To assist in the creation and maintenance of technical files.
· To carry out risk assessments
· To assist in creating BOMs for projects.
· To follow all relevant quality procedures.
· To pass accurate information on to Engineering Support for procurement of build materials and parts.
· To ensure allocated design hours are monitored and kept within allocated projections on a daily and weekly basis.
· To drive the standardisation of parts and components.

What can I earn?

This Mechanical Design Engineer position offers a basic salary between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, the Senior role offers more and is based on experience.

You could be right for this Mechanical Design Engineer position if you've previously worked either as a Mechanical Design Engineer or as a Design Engineer.
