£85,000- £100,000 (depending on skills and experience)

Due to an incredible period of growth and development the company are looking to expand and grow its Data and Analytic's function and invite a Senior Data Engineer with experience working in big data, to join their cutting-edge Data Products team, working with machine learning and their data lake and in-house analytic's platform.

This role will best suite someone who can leverage their experience working with software development and big data to design, build and deploy solutions and ensure the business can plan work effectively and ensure documentation, schemas, tests, and testing strategies are in place to support the team and the products they develop and maintain.

You will need previous experience working in an agile environment, ideally with prior experience working in cross functional teams, can help mentor and support junior members, through scoping, planning, estimation and developing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be interacting with a multidisciplinary team and must be able to mentor and guide data scientists and data engineers about software engineering and cloud computing best practices.
  • You will also be working with the product manager/product owner, on stories and setting out scope and acceptance criteria for issues and helping to plan sprints.
  • Experienced in using AWS, (e.g. CloudFormation, EC2, ASG, Lambda, Kinesis, Docker, Drone) both via web console and programmatically (infrastructure-as-code). (Experience in additional platforms such as GCP, Azure is beneficial)
  • Experience with Big Data, data modelling and appreciation of data architecture and ability to explain data layers to other engineers, data scientists and to external stakeholders. e.g. Experience with Hadoop, AWS Athena, Google BigQuery, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch.
  • Able to suggest and implement improvements to automation, monitoring, integration and unit testing, deployment pipelines, system architecture and documentation.
    e.g. Knowledge of one of Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, GoLang
