Role Description

My client is looking for a Data Architect or Data Engineer with 5+ years’ experience of designing and developing cloud-based data solutions to join our Data, Analytics and AI team.

The ideal candidate would ensure solutions meet the business need by working in a DevOps fashion to design and deliver the technical solution.

They are looking for an experienced architect/ engineer who is confident in delivering business critical, high-impact solutions, aware of and uses data and security best-practices and can coach both clients and Junior Developers.

The role is UK based, with a possible requirement to travel to Europe and the Middle East from time to time.


  • Technical hands-on role to design, build, migrate and transform Cloud Data Storage, Integration and Analysis Solutions
  • Advise on solution options for a business need, clearly presenting the technical components and their implications for cost, functional and non-functional capabilities.
  • Support the Project team to capture technical requirements.
  • Produce design documentation to present and iterate to customers and their governance boards, securing approval from Design Authorities, Security and CAB.
  • Complete the environment and solution build / migration activities, primarily in Azure and some AWS and/or GCP.
  • Support client training / handover instructions.
  • Support pre-sales activity.
  • Building strong working relationships, with the team, customers and third parties to enable successful product delivery.
  • Working in teams using development methodologies and tools, such as Agile, DevOps, Scrum, KanBan, Waterfall, Prince2.
  • Proactively responding to changes in scope and devise options to present to the client or delivery lead.

Role Requirements – mandatory

  • Design and implementation experience developing Azure data warehouse solutions (using services such as Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Data Bricks, Stream Analytics, Data Lake, Blob Storage, CosmosDB, EFS, SQL Server, Analysis Services, PowerBI and/or Tableau)
  • Data integration and pipeline development
  • Working knowledge of SQL server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Competent in at least one programming language: Python, R, Powershell, C#
  • Proactive and creative problem solver
  • Experience in Datawarehouse migrations from on-prem to cloud
  • Operates using Agile/iterative development methodology.
  • Able to work in a self-directed manner, proactively seeking out areas that need attention, rather than being asked to look at specific problem areas.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and a passion to solve hard problems.
  • Robust character and determination to achieve goals and deliver outcomes.

Role Requirements – desirable but not essential)

  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Certification DP-200 and DP-201
  • Data Science experience
  • AWS and GCP Cloud Infrastructure Engineering (especially for data storage, orchestration and analysis, e.g. RDS, Sagemaker, BigQuery)
  • Competent in developing Microsoft CDS / Dataverse databases (within PowerPlatform)
  • M365 data management
  • Sharepoint, Access, Excel
  • API services
  • Mathematics, statistics, or IT training, certifications or degrees
  • Technical leadership skills
