Financial Controller

Julie Rose Recruitment are looking for a Financial Controller with experience of working in a construction company for their growing client in Sidcup. The responsibilities are to manage the finance department for all companies within the group (5) and produce monthly / quarterly and year-end accounts as well as daily and weekly cash forecasts.

Hours: 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (hours deemed necessary to complete tasks)

Key Responsibilities for the Financial Controller

  • Cash flow management (including daily bank recons and forecasting)
  • Debt Collection, although this is mainly managed by other staff members
  • Manage staff members and cover positions for holidays
  • Application review and chasing
  • Monthly contractor reconciliation and payment
  • Contract reading and review
  • Monthly / quarterly and yearly accounts (including provisions, accruals, depreciation and other journals)
  • Various costing exercises
  • Monthly Statutory returns
  • Quarterly VAT recons for (for all 5 companies)
  • Support monthly payroll administration by keeping a schedule of adjustments
  • Review and prepare for signature year end return for Companies House
  • Review and prepare for pension launch
  • Liaising with the Bank and Auditors on various issues
  • Review contracts and verify CIS Contractors as and when required
  • Applying and arranging bonds on commercial developments
  • Cover petty cash
  • Check all expense claims
  • Complete paperwork for the opening of all accounts and reviewing T&C

Person Specification for the Financial Controller

  • Qualified Accountant – ACCA /ACA/ CIMA
  • Must have experience of working in a construction company
  • Strong leadership and business partnering skills

This role is pivotal for our client, you will be reporting directly into the owners of the company. Teamwork is promoted within this company and as such, you will be working alongside the HR/Office Manager to ensure the company runs smoothly and continues to be successful.
