Electrical Maintenance Engineer

We are supporting a manufacturing Business in Shipley, We are looking for a skilled maintenance engineer with the ability to maintain mechanical and electrical machines.


  • Build and maintain history on equipment, assess breakdowns, prioritize and take appropriate corrective action
  • Provide technical assistance to ensure shortest possible machine downtime, recording and creating manuals & drawings for early machine recovery
  • Schedule machine time with Production in order to perform repairs or planned maintenance to equipment and may secure necessary materials and parts for the scheduled and unscheduled repairs
  • Ensure prompt attention and resolution of conditions that impact the business
  • Process, review, and expedite work orders, modification and equipment drawings, schematics, check sheets, job instructions, and calibrations records
  • Attend departmental meetings with team members to discuss projects, issues, team briefings
  • Order required parts follow up orders to ensure spare parts are fitted to the appropriate machine on delivery

Required experience:

  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship, together with at least 2 years' experience in a maintenance department of a manufacturing company.
  • Minimum HNC or City & Guilds level 4 or equivalent (Technical Certificate, etc.)
  • Time served apprenticeship
  • PLC experience Fault finding and interrogation - Allen Bradley/Mitsubishi/ Siemens
  • Essential - PLC - ability to connect laptop and make minor program alterations
  • Ability to fault find, identify root cause, and prevent reoccurrence of issues quickly is also essential
  • Capable of working unsupervised or within a team
  • Conversant with the use of machine tools
  • AC, DC & Servo Drive Experience

Hours of work and benefits:

  • Days and Afters or Days only shift pattern - Monday to Friday
  • There is the potential for a 3 nights a week role doing 12 hour shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday for anyone with a preference for nights
  • Permanent role
  • £30,000 to £34,000 salary + £3000 shift allowance
