The Role:

In the Health, Safety And Environmental Manager role you'll be primarily responsible for ensuring all the health and safety (H&S) polices across the group are upheld. This role entails establishing, managing, and monitoring standards, procedures, communications, training, and systems to guarantee all H&S responsibilities are met. The job holder is expected to collaborate closely with operational colleagues in the field and supervise and facilitate the activities of the H&S team.

You'll report to the Operations Director and you'll spend part of the working week in the company's Watford office/site. For the rest of the week you will have the opportunity in working from home.

In the job you'll be tasked with the following:

• Recommending and implementing new health and safety best practices
• Presenting safety culture / principles to staff in meetings or training sessions
• Ensuring equipment maintenance schedule is adhered to from a health and safety perspective together with ordering repairs for unsafe and/or damaged equipment
• Running complex and multi-site H&S risk assessments

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this Health, Safety And Environmental Manager role will have relevant experience of taking a proactive approach towards health and safety, ensuring targets, policies and manuals are up to date and legally sound.

You'll also need experience of:

• Creating corrective and preventative action plans
• Ensuring health and safety training (statutory and upskilling) takes place and is planned proactively
• Taking ownership of the environmental systems and the re-certification process of ohsas18001
• Undertaking complex risk assessments
• Overseeing investigations of accidents, incidents, and near miss incidents
• The planning, coordinate and undertaking of training, both external and internal on relevant aspects of H&S

In addition, you'll need the following:

• The ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
• A flexible team player with a positive can-do attitude and good organisational skills who can work on own initiative and deliver results
• A NEBOSH general certificate

Basic salary: circa.£55,000 per annum
