They are committed to providing their employees with a safe and healthy working environment, and they are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

The Role

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices for the organisation. They will also be responsible for conducting risk assessments, investigating accidents and incidents, and providing training to employees on safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and risk assessments (RAMS) that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for the organisation
  • Offer strategic support to and as part of the organisational management team.
  • Effectively communicate safety policies to all employees and contractors.
  • Develop method statements and conduct risk assessments for all project work.
  • Identify potential hazards and assess associated risks.
  • Carry out regular inspections and risk assessments of job sites, equipment, and work processes to identify and eliminate hazards.
  • Conduct monthly site audits for high importance projects.
  • Organize and deliver training programs to educate employees and contractors on safe work practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of hazardous materials, and emergency response procedures.

What We Are Looking For

  • A strong understanding of all H&S requirements in relation to or connected to the construction industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs and achieving positive results.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and other applicable standards.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills.
  • A person with industry knowledge and an understanding of mechanical plant.
  • Be an effective communicator with good listening, spoken and written skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively. Communication includes listening, speaking, and writing.
  • To work on your initiative and pay attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a can do attitude.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a good team player.
  • Patience and ability to remain calm in stressful situations and remain flexible.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Show professionalism at all times.

Requirements

  • A full driving license is essential due to the extensive travel needed for the role.
  • NEBOSH qualification
  • Thorough understanding of all H&S requirements.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective health and safety programs and achieving positive results.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, including the Health and Safety at Work Act and other applicable standards.
