Any exposure to / understanding of the the Aerospace sector would be beneficial (but not essential).

The Role:

In the Mechanical Design Engineer role you'll report to the Head of Engineering and will be primarily responsible for the design and development new products. You'll need sound technical knowledge, design skills and excellent mathematical ability to carry out a variety of projects and analyse problems. You'll also be required to interpret design briefs creatively, build and maintain project specifications, and conduct market research. Additionally, you'll need to provide technical assistance, carry out FEAsimulation, develop engineering documentation, create test plans, partake in prototyping and testing activities, write test reports, and build and implement NPI plans.

Specific tasks include:

  • Driving new product development
  • Overseeing more junior colleagues and offering guidance when required
  • Supporting key clients to around ongoing product development

The Candidate:

To be the right person for Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need direct experience of areas around mechanical product design, any exposure to the aerospace would be beneficial but not essential.

We also need you to have prior experience of:

  • Areas of fabrication and machining technology
  • Or have a general understanding of injection moulding and component design
  • Using 3D drawing packages

It's important that you also have the following:

  • The ability to work with colleagues to develop a concept, from brief to final design
  • The ability to implement new product development plans
  • The experience to offer both internal as well as external stakeholders technical assistance and product knowledge to solve mechanical problems

We need you to be a real team player, keen to take a key role in a wider dynamic and high performing product development team and be exited by he opportunity to develop new products and seeing their development through the entire concept, testing and implementation process.

The Package:

The basic salary for the Mechanical Design Engineer role is between £40,000 - £45,000 per annum.
