18 month assignment
PE Backed business - hand over from the exiting CFO, complete a business acquisition and a related refinancing and then recruit and hand back to a new CFO.
11 month assignment
Joined a highly acquisitive PE backed business, my primary activities during this appointment have been taking the lead on all matters relating to tax including re-assessing their approach to thin capitalisation resulting in re-submission tax computations and the recovery of just over £1m in tax and cash, a review of the Group’s transfer pricing position and the voluntary disclosure of unpaid tax and NI as a result of a missed PSA submission negotiated without penalty. In addition, supported an acquisition of a German company leading the acquisition integration from both a management and statutory reporting perspective.
12 month assignment
Engaged to assist the newly appointed permanent FD to allow him to focus on strategic issues whilst I resolved significant accounting and cultural issues. Within my first Month nearly £3m was written off the balance sheet. Major reconciliation issues were resolved, and I took the four entities through two audits (one 15-month period and one 7-month period).
14 month assignment
Approached by a private equity firm as part of their investment, appointed as interim Finance Director on an initial 12-week assignment to implement appropriate reporting. It quickly became apparent that the investment was in more difficulty than anticipated and I was retained to work on the turnaround. In 12 months there was a £290k positive monthly EBITDA swing on the back of process re-engineering, two new contracts, commercial re-negotiation and the exiting of one ‘bad’ contract.
10 month assignment
Approached by a private equity firm to work with a company their portfolio so that the existing incumbent could be relieved of duties and a process undertaken to recruit a permanent head for the role. Completed the re-negotiation of banking facilities and covenants, completed two share buy-back agreements, oversight of the first post-acquisition year end audit for the group, management of the relationships with the key stakeholders. 6 month assignment
Retained by private equity investors after last assignment. Appointed as CFO of this £80m group to relieve the existing incumbent and to manage a team of 46 (finance and operations), represent the Board and manage the relationship with the Group’s bankers whilst the search was conducted for a permanent head.
6 month assignment
Appointed by private equity investors to relieve the former FD for other activities. Managed a team of 19, represented the business to the Board which was a Co-investment and was involved in the implementation and early management of the Groups digital strategy to grow leads through its online platform.
