DESCRIPTION

Purpose of this position is to perform Electrical Design activities

In direct collaboration with the Technical Lead and Project Managers, ensuring that all projects assigned to her/him are delivered on-time, on-budget and to the specifications stated in the order.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Electrical analysis and design based on company standard and customer requirement.
  • Ensuring design work interfaces with all other disciplines.
  • Takes technical direction and supervision from Electrical Engineering Supervisor.
  • Create electrical schematic packages and BOMs using EPLAN Electrical P8 AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Support Manufacturing and debugging team to resolve field difficulties.
  • Update schematics as required such as “as-built” after customer FAT and SAT..
  • Support the Project Manager in all electrical design issues related to projects.
  • Support service department to resolve all electrical and program issues at all stages such as installation, SAT, service and retrofit.
  • Support customer in electrical/programming issues.
  • Support and communicate to other department such as mechanical, application and customer service.
  • Support team development and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to Electrical Standard and things improving team efficiency.
  • Take other work tasks as needed by team leader.
  • Communicate with mechanical engineers to arrive at mutually beneficial design solutions, participating in handoff meetings, FMEA assessments.
  • Works in close collaboration with Operations and Project Management in order to foster a culture of Continuous Improvement within the engineering department and companywide.
  • Keeps current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to system design and operation.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Electrical Engineering experience in the field of automation/industrial machinery..
  • P.Eng., college diploma in Electrical Design, or similar Technical Education in the field of Electrical Engineering.
  • Good ability to deal with suppliers and co-workers is essential.
  • Great working knowledge EPLAN Electrical P8 /AutoCAD Electrical a requirement. Knowing only ACAD alone is not sufficient.
  • Good working knowledge of current safety standards, including Control Reliable design & PSR Legislation in Ontario.
  • Good working knowledge of Electrical code and standards.
  • 5 – 8 years Electrical Engineering experience in the field of automation/industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of SISTEMA software tool for the evaluation of safety-related machine controls.
  • Familiarity with CE standards pertaining to CE marking.
  • Above average command of office tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
