Underwriting Assistant

Up to £26,000 per annum 3 days WFH

We're looking for a talented Assistant Underwriter to work for our client.

They want to recruit someone with demonstrable experience of underwriting.

If that's you then you could be exactly what they're looking for, even if you've got limited work experience but have recently graduated in a relevant or related field.

The Role:

Reporting to the Underwriting Team Leader and based in the company's North Allerton office, as the Assistant Underwriter you will be primarily responsible for taking a lead role in managing the operational underwriting function, applying underwriting and pricing strategy, and policies, to build technical excellence and deliver profit and income targets.

In the job you'll be tasked with the following:

- Liaising with brokers on daily basis, answering incoming telephone calls and chasing brokers for any additional data required

- Managing the workflow of electronic email submissions

- Assisting the underwriters/capacity with the due diligence and underwriting process on individual referral submissions by classifying the risk; collecting additional underwriting information and in time, produce endorsements and issue documentation

- Supporting the underwriting of new business/renewals within own authority and in line with strategy

The Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Underwriter role will have relevant experience of underwriting.

You'll also need experience of dealing with insurers and key stakeholders and Microsoft office packages.

In addition, you'll need the following:

- Excellent written and verbal skills

- Excellent attention to detail

- The ability to communicate effectively with others

The ideal person for the role will be the following:

- Able to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment

- Organised and have a methodical approach to work and problem solving

- Able to work on your own initiative
