We're looking for a talented Underwriter to work for our client.
They want to recruit someone with demonstrable experience of underwriting principals and the general insurance market.

The Role:
Reporting to the Underwriting Director and based in the company's South Shields office, as the Underwriter you will be primarily responsible for evaluating applications for latent defect insurance coverage, assessing risk factors including proposed construction method, client profiles and gather background information.
In the job you'll be tasked with the following:
- Calculating appropriate insurance premiums, applying appropriate terms and conditions to quotations and final insurance documentation
- Underwriting latent defects risks from individual residential properties up to large, mixed use properties up to reinstatement value of £10,000,000
- Processing new quotation enquiries and mid-term adjustments
- Liaising with broker, direct and technical inspection surveyors in all aspects of the underwriting of risks
- Underwriting risks up to binding authority limit of £10,000,000, compiling the risk details, and capturing the key information within documented underwriting rationale

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this Underwriter role will have relevant experience of underwriting principals and the general insurance market.
You'll also need experience of fca regulation as well as underwriting, customer service and risk analysis.
In addition, you'll need the following:
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong numerical skills

- Diligent and have an eye for detail
- Commercially minded
- Able to work on your own initiative
