We're looking for a talented Senior Underwriter to work for our client.
They want to recruit someone with demonstrable experience of technical underwriting with a good understanding of the insurance market.

The Role:
In the Senior Underwriter role you'll be primarily responsible for applying underwriting and pricing strategy, and policies, to build technical excellence and deliver profit and income targets.
You'll report to the Head of Underwriting and you'll spend part of the working week in the company's Northallerton office. For the rest of the week you will be working from home.
In the job you'll be tasked with the following:
- Supporting the delivery of underwriting strategy and overall combined performance through underwriting Account Management, account monitoring and analysis of underwriting trends
- Developing and executing against any remedial actions identified to return combined book to profitability
- Providing underwriting and technical guidance to the combined underwriting team
- Researching, recommending and agreeing pricing, underwriting criteria and product changes to ensure products remain market comparable and continue to deliver profitable growth in line with financial plans
- Supporting in proactively managing underwriting relationships with key customers to deliver profitable growth

The Candidate:
The ideal candidate for this Senior Underwriter role will have relevant experience of technical underwriting with a good understanding of the insurance market.
You'll also need experience of:
- Decision making on a wide range of technical underwriting scenarios within a commercial environment
- Understanding financial performance and the key performance indicators to drive and improve profitability
- Building successful long term relationships both internally and externally
In addition, you'll need the following:
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong interpersonal, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others
- The ability to recognise and nurture talent
The ideal person for the role will be the following:
- Able to work as part of a team
- Diligent and have an eye for detail
- Commercially minded
