Contracts Manager/Quantity Surveyor (Lifts & Elevators)

Alexander James Recruiting are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor/Contract Manager to help support Project Managers in contract reviews and additional legal matters related to the installation and maintenance of lifts and elevator projects. The successful candidate will have a strong legal understanding within construction and will benefit from joining a large company with strong opportunities for future progression.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Project Managers through various project work to include installation and modernisation projects both on and off site
  • Be involved in and take control of all compliance and review of contracts and legal related issues
  • Negotiate contract terms
  • Occasional site visits depending on customer requirements
  • Assist with bonds, warranties, financial accounts and general compliance
  • Attend meetings with Project Managers to ensure overall smooth running of projects

Requirements

The role will suit a candidate with a strong legal understanding/background and ideally a background within a construction/project related field. Although a legal or qualification is preferable this is by no means essential whilst lift industry experience is also not required. A candidate from within the lift and elevator industry without prior experience may be considered for the role but must have strong organisational skills and good attention to detail. Crucially, the successful individual will be a very strong Contract Manager with excellent attention to detail and proven experience of understanding the legalities around contract work within construction or similar. Given the customer focused nature of the role, strong customer service skills are also key. In terms of locality, the role is based in Nottingham with some potential flexibility on home working though the organisation would also consider an individual based in London.

Our client is an international provider of elevators, lifts and escalators to a variety of markets, including domestic, commercial and construction. Due to the nature of the lift industry, a huge amount of their work is done through the construction market, into new building projects. For this reason, the company require a large project support team to manage the legal aspects of ensuring all projects run smoothly. Consistently expanding, they’re a company with a lot of room to progress.
