IT Category Manager/Operations Procurement Manager - Worthing/WFH/Hybrid

£55,000 - £60,000 plus excellent benefits, bonus and career opportunities/Based Worthing, West Sussex with WFH opportunities, 2 days per week in the office

My client, a leading, technology strong, professional services company, seek an experienced IT Category Manager, with experience of operational services procurement, have relevant qualifications (CIPS/Bachelor's degree in business or a related field) and have experience working with best practice tools, techniques and processes for the development of category strategies.

Notes for the IT Category Manager role:

They are ideally looking for an experienced IT Category Manager who is self-sufficient, someone who can engage with IT stakeholders (understand needs and requirements and know some of the technical language), ideally has UCR experience and utility experience but this is not essential. Want someone that has strategic thinking around the IT services and where there are opportunities within renewals and new contract tenders on the IT side. The IT team are mostly based in Durrington, 2 days a week in that office. They will look at generalists that have some IT experience, but on their CV would need have IT and know they wanted strictly IT.

This role can be based in Worthing or Brighton, but it is a hybrid position with lots of work from home opportunities.

The Category Manager/Operations Procurement Manager role overview:

  • The Category management position is a strategic role which has the opportunity to influence and shape the companies business model and supply chain strategies.
  • As a member of the Operational Services category team, you will lead in the development and implementation of relevant category strategies.
  • The key objective being to inform and influence business strategies and align category strategies to maximise value creation and minimise total cost for the organisation.
  • With oversight from the Senior Category Manager you will work closely with their Sourcing, Contract Management & Commercial teams to develop and implement category strategies.
  • You will oversee full category life cycle ensuring compliance to the Utilities Contract Regulations (UCR).

The ideal Category Manager/Operations Procurement Manager candidate will:

  • Have experience of operational services procurement, have relevant qualifications (you should have the CIPS qualification or equivalent or be working towards this as a min) and have experience working with best practice tools, techniques and processes for the development of category strategies.
  • Be a great planner with robust project management capabilities and the soft skills to influence at all levels. Ideally you will also have experience of working in a regulated procurement environment.
  • In this highly empowering role, you will have ownership for key categories of spend and the role offers a great exposure within their business and opportunity for you to shape your deliverables, grow and learn as they offer CIPS qualifications for the suitable applicant.

You will need to be a self-starter with strong communication skills and resilient to operate in a challenging environment and the hunger to be part of a growing Category Management discipline.
