GIS Specialist Application Support - Worthing, West Sussex/Initially Remote/WFH

6 months rolling - £600 to £650 per day (Outside IR35)/Initially remote, then potentially 2/3 days per week in the office in Worthing

A leading technology strong professional services company seek an experienced GIS Specialist Application Support, with experience of implementing new business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.

Scope of role Primary scope of the GIS Specialist Application Support role are:

  • Implement new business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.
  • Support new project implementation aligned with business objective and solution architecture.
  • Implement new releases of existing business application software, capturing end user requirements and configuring, testing and integrating as necessary.
  • Provide 2nd line support (L2-4 as applicable) for business applications under role scope.
  • Produce specifications and designs for application and its components to meet defined business needs, retaining compatibility with enterprise and solution architectures.
  • Specify, design and maintain mechanisms for storage and access to both structured and unstructured information, in support of business information needs.
  • Design, create, test and document new and amended programme components, configuration, SQL, packages, code base and programs from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards.
  • Develop, implement and report the findings of suitable test schedules to measure and improve the quality of application solutions being deployed, to ensure that new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified.
  • Integrate and test components and/or subsystems and their interfaces in order to create operational services.

Other duties for the GIS Specialist Application Support role are:

  • Liaise IT service desk to facilitate robust service support for new and upgraded application solutions.
  • Facilitate productive relationships with and between key stakeholders, during the Planning management and implementation of business change, as applicable.
  • Ensure that project and business application support documentation is maintained.
  • Coordinate the work of suppliers and contractors during the development, testing and implementation of new or upgraded business modules or solutions.
  • Support and maintain the database infrastructure which underpins the Company's business applications and enterprise reporting requirements.
  • Provide estimates for scope of works and associated resourcing requirements for project planning purposes.
  • Identify project related risks and escalate project issues in a timely manner.

Additional Job Information for the GIS Specialist Application Support role are:

  • Own the responsibility for unit testing and code merge for changes and projects (With external parties as needed).
  • Follow the agreed architecture, design patterns and the software development methodology. Develop and deliver programs as per the requirements and coding guidelines with minimal supervision, & within the budget and timeframe.

Major accountabilities of the GIS Specialist Application Support - Approx % of time spent in role:

  1. Responsible for application support and Continual Improvement taking into account functional and non-functional requirements - 50%.
  2. Work with an Implementation Partner/contractors to coordinate the development/implementation of services/application/component and the Configuration Management Database - 20%.
  3. Performing integration and process automation as per support or project need - 10%.
  4. Performing system and integration testing - 10%.
  5. Implementing IT quality assurance practices and procedures - 10%

Experience and capability requirements Knowledge/experience for the GIS Specialist Application Support role are:

  • Experience in delivering support services in asset management application space.
  • Experience in managing system governance, data along with business engagement for GIS management systems.
  • Experience of managing GIS solution including GIS tools, Autodesk GIS, MapGuide, Mobile GIS, Geofield, address applications along with custom developed applications.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in managing a complex system ecosystem with varied applications (Cots and Custom).
  • Knowledge and experience in managing system releases via BAU and emergency changes.
  • Experience in working in zero unplanned downtime environment.

Capability for the GIS Specialist Application Support role are:

  • In-depth knowledge of the GIS management systems products and development framework with a proven track record of supporting, implementing and improving applications.
  • Knowledge IT Service Management toolsets, including Knowledge Base & Configuration Management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, flexible and a proactive team player.
