Mental Health during the Job Search
According to Mind, the UK Mental Health Charity, “good mental health means being generally able to think, feel and react in the ways that you need and want to live your life.” However, one in four people may experience poor mental health and find aspects of their day to day life very difficult. This can manifest in serious mental health disorders or affect daily habits such as sleeping, not being able to concentrate or feeling irritable and afraid.
Going for interviews and facing possible “rejection” by not getting jobs can be tough for candidates. When they don’t get an interview from the hiring company or they don’t get the job, they can feel discouraged and despondent. During our time recruiting multiple candidates we would advise the following top tips for staying positive during the job search:
We are always on hand to give candidates tools and techniques to equip them in their interviews. We try and help them by mentally preparing them with honest guidance. We do this by giving them pointers and information about the hiring company culture and expectations. We also run through scenario- based questions to help them turn their experiences into positive features in interviews.
