Commercial Finance Analyst

Aila is excited to announce we’re in an exclusive partnership with a well-run, exciting and ambitious Consumer Goods/ Retail business in Hemel Hempstead on the recruitment of an ACCA/CIMA Qualified Commercial Finance Analyst on a permanent basis.

They have an impressive and longstanding history and have continued to grow rapidly in recent years. Current turnover is c.£90m and they have ambitious and realistic growth plans of surpassing £100m and further in the next 24 months.

We’re looking for a qualified, experienced, motivated and reliable self-starter. Someone confident with excellent attention to detail who can work independently, be thorough and proactive. A highly organised individual capable of managing a complex and ever-changing agenda and workflow.

Flexibility to manage multiple projects simultaneously and your colleagues’ expectations, in an environment with shifting priorities is also a key skill required. This position will assist with the commercial and finance departments, but also look to add value and support all other departments within the business.

Reporting to the Commercial Finance and Operations Manager, and supporting the Finance Director and Finance Manager, this role is pivotal to the success and development of the business and the scope for development and future progression is apparent too.

You will be a confident and assuring individual with excellent Excel skills and the ability to build relationships across the wider business. A strongly analytical mind and a problem-solving mindset is essential as the business is continuously changing and it’s a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Partnering with the Sales Teams on pricing, support and profitability
• Building strong relationships with Managers to evaluate spend, monitor investment and influence return on investment
• Look to reduce business risk, analyse cost and improve profitability
• Respond to changes in legislation and forthcoming environmental initiatives and reporting requirements
• Understand ERP business requirements, implementing solutions and oversee process improvements
• Work closely with Customer Services, Logistics and Finance to provide support with operational and technical issues
• Oversee commercial initiatives, bespoke agreements and future fulfilment
• Assisting in the planning of stock cycles-as driven by sales to improve working capital
• Analysing, manage and discount stock positions to minimise losses
• Maintain and update pricing structures including standard, bespoke and ad-hoc deals, challenging where necessary
• Setup promotions and monitor and report on effectiveness
• Maintain stock records, third party data feeds and challenge integrity of existing product data
• Logistics authorisation and analysis, including review of accruals and standard cost setting
• Calculate rebates and recharge quarterly/annually
• Manage third-party expenses including monthly import of claim data to ERP platform.
• Understand brands and marketing budgets
• Be a resource to assist in responding to business needs, actioning change, driving development across the business, and furthering the agenda of business-safe practices
• Ad-hoc monitoring, reporting and analysis
