Aila is excited to be exclusively partnered with the UK’s leading operator within its field and a large multi-site business in the recruitment of an ACCA/ACA Qualified Finance Manager on a permanent basis in St Albans.

This Finance Manager role is responsible for assisting with the co-ordination and management of the finance function and for various month-end accounting tasks and activities. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to assist in the process of building control through a rapidly growing business and identifying efficiencies throughout the department.
 
Reporting to the Financial Controller and managing 1 direct report, you will also be responsible for various ad hoc financial accounting, analytical and reporting tasks. The Finance Manager may also be required to assist other departments with financial and administrative activities from time to time.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage P&L accounts, understanding variances to budget and last year
  • Produce site P&Ls with commentary and insight
  • Manage key balance sheet accounts
  • Be responsible for all financial accounting entries and operational queries relating to those balance sheet accounts
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Liaise with auditors as required
  • Lead the month end process ensuring that accounts are produced in line with the timetable
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Support development of best practice and process improvement
  • Updating policies and procedures in line with legislation, ensuring VAT applied correctly
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as required (for accounts and other departments)
 
We are looking for a Qualified Accountant with at least 2 years’ PQE, who is comfortable working for a large corporate business with exposure to a complex and fast-paced environment. You will need to have a good understanding of month-end reporting and managing deadlines. Ideally you will have qualified in a mid-tier accountancy firm and now have a couple of years’ industry experience.
